The ladder must be secured and located within 25 lateral feet of all workers, and it must extend beyond the top of the trench by 3 feet. If the workers are using a structural ramp as their egress, a competent person qualified in structural design has to design it. WebIf you live a city/neighborhood with drainage ditches, then you'll need to check with the city building office. If your neighbor blocking it is illegal, they might come out and dig it out to restore proper drainage. My old neighborhood had ditches along both sides of the street and the city would dig them out every 5 years or so.
